Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating action and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of society through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our shared bold, daring style to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
