The British tennis star secured the most important win of his professional journey by rebounding from a set down to beat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the second round of the Paris Masters.

While he had before overcome Alcaraz on two occasions, this triumph marks Norrie's maiden victory over a current world top-ranked player.

"Huge. Incredibly significant for me," stated Norrie, who becomes the newest English competitor in history to defeat a world No 1. "Bouncing back from injury last year, I was defeated in the initial match of qualifying rounds here. I just sought to enjoy my tennis in the second half of the year. To secure a triumph like this, it's the biggest victory of my career, my first win over the global number one and probably the strongest athlete in the tennis scene right now."

The British player, positioned 31st globally, also halted Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine finals in a row and 17 straight elite tournament wins, which marked the finest stretch of results in the Spaniard's young professional path.
