It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to see coming.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.
